A Law is passed in San Francisco, to sell only Rescue Dogs and Cats at the shops!

Most of the animal lovers are afraid of the thoughts of keeping their beloved family pet in a cage, even for a second or let them be all alone for a week, a month or a year. Because of this the San Francisco officials have voted to ban the sale of non-rescue dogs and cats at any pet shop.

The aim of the amendment

The amendment aims to tackle the prevalence of puppy-mills on a large scale. It will also help in facilitating the adoption of thousands of animals, who are already occupying a shelter in the city.

The responsible breeders can continue their business in the city and the people can still adopt from local shelters. They can also find a specific breed from any number of breed-specific rescues, that are serving in the area.

The reason for designing the ordinance is that it will bring attention to and halt the inhumane practices. These practices include supplying of animals after large scale breeding, to the pet stores or directly to the customer.

About the inhumane practices

PETA’s Mimi Bekhechi has confirmed that pet shops’ greed fuels the cruel commercial breeding industry that are keeping female dogs and cats prisoner inside mucky wire cages, for the only purpose to churn out litters of inbred puppies and kittens. These kittens and puppies are taken away from them and are transported hundreds of miles away and sold.

Conclusion

The city has recognized that the animals are not commodities and there is a link between them and the industry. Millions of dogs, cats and cows are euthanized each year, because they don’t find good homes for themselves. I request people to come forward and help these innocent creatures.
