Burning of Camphor:

Camphor is being used by many for religious purposes and it is also known askapura in Hindi as a household name, but it also acts as an effective mosquito repellant.

Lighting a small piece of camphor in your room and shutting the door and windows for 15 minutes can leave your room as a mosquito free zone.

Application of Neem oil:

Azadirachta indica, also known as Neem, Nimtree, and Indian Lilac is a tree in the mahogany family Meliaceae. And (Neem) oil apart from having great medicinal properties it is also a great mosquito repellent. You can make an effective skin friendly insecticide by mixing neem oil and coconut oil in 1:1 ratio.

Upon applying it on your body, you will stay protected from mosquito bites (biting) for at least 8-10 hours. This solution may prove to be very helpful in case you are sleeping in your balcony or any other open area or camping in woods.

Planting Tulsi:

Ocimum tenuiflorum, also known as Ocimum sanctum, holy basil, or tulasi or tulsi (also sometimes spelled thulasi), is an aromatic plant. The sacred Tulsi is extremely effective towards killing the mosquito larvae and also keeping mosquitoes away. The medicinal property of Tulsi plant prevents entry of mosquitoes in your home.

It will prove to be great idea to plant a Tulsi in your home (yard) and keep it on your windows.

Fragrance of Lavender:

lavender (Lavandula) acts as a natural mosquito repellent with its natural and strong fragrance, which keeps the mosquitoes at bay. You have the option to either burn lavender oil in your aromatic lamps or use lavender room freshener to keep mosquitoes away from your home during day or night.

Keeping shrubs like neem, tulsi, lemon grass, marigold, mint, etc. inside your home is an effective way to avoid or reduce mosquitoes as these plants act as very strong natural mosquito repellents. Furthermore, these plants also add healthy beauty to your home.

Most importantly, you should always remember to keep your home and surroundings clean and garbage free. Never let stagnant water to stay as a breeding ground for mosquitoes in your surroundings.
