It is one of the main opportunities started by the Tata Group of companies to encourage the Indian youth to ponder about the building of the nation. The essay contest has already started on 5th of August 2016 and the last date for applying is July 31st 2017.
In one educational year, a student can take part in the online style of the essay contest, only once. This essay is written by the student only once but is assessed thrice-school, city, National Levels. To take part in this competition, there is no entry fee.
i) The essay contest gives a marvelous opportunity to allow the students to show their talent in writing on a number of topics concerned with the building of the nation.
ii) The online essay contest is for those students whose schools have not participated in the Tata Building nation school essay contest at the school level.
iii) The online style allows taking part only for one time in an educational year on the spontaneously chosen subjects which show up on the monitor post registration.
The School standard Essay Competition
i) The essay contest will be organized over 180 cities, in more than 7000 schools and will give opportunities to about 3.5 million students to be held in over 12 dialects.
ii) The number of student participants- The contest has seen an increase in participants from only 100,000 in 2006 to 3.5 million students in 2013.

The pupils are divided into two groups:
i) Junior level class 6 to 8
ii) Senior level class 9 to 12
Prizes for the online essay contest: The winners will be given certificates and outstanding prizes. All the triumphant students will be given a citation and the prizes will a be given at school, city, and national level.
Application form and Process for the essay contest
The application process will be done through online mode and the last date for applying by the interested students is 31st July 2017.
After the completion of registration, the subjects will be displayed on the computer monitor and the participant will get 90 minutes to write the essay on the preferred subject in less than 1000 words. A participant can send more than one entry. The entry sent for the last time will be considered for assessment.
Selection Process for the essay contest
The essay sent by the participant will be assessed by a panel of judges on the basis of the guidelines shown below:
i) Aptness to the subject
ii) Dialect
iii) Body of the essay
iv) Creativity
v) Conveying of the idea
vi) The winners will be declared on the website and the Facebook portal of Tata Building India.
vii) The assessment of the essays shall be done by the Panel and the decision of the Panel shall be binding on all the participants.
viii) The expenditure incurred by the national/state standard winners will be borne by the city of participation.
