Yash Dayal : The Rising Star of Indian Cricket and Controversies

Yash Dayal is a left-arm fast-medium bowler. He is an Indian cricketer who was born on December 13, 1997, in Allahabad, UP, to a middle-class Hindu family. At the age of 5, he started playing cricket after watching his father play cricket, who also had a dream of becoming a cricketer but couldn’t fulfil it.

In domestic cricket, he represents Uttar Pradesh, and in the Indian Premier League, he plays for the Gujarat Titans.

At the age of 15, he joined Madan Malviya Cricket Academy, where he was coached by B.N. Aggarwal, Amit Pal, and Kaushik Pal to learn bowling. He made his debut for Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2018 and took 14 wickets. He also made his debut for Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy in the same year.

In 2022, he made his IPL debut for the Gujarat Titans, where he played nine matches and took 11 wickets at an average of 26.91 and an economy of 9.251. However, during an IPL match in 2023, he was hit for five consecutive sixes by KKR batsman Rinku Singh. He also played for the India A team in 2022 and is known as a right-handed batsman and a left-arm fast-medium bowler. He met his favourite cricketer, Virat Kohli, during the IPL 2022 at Wankhede Stadium.

Unfortunately, he faced backlash for sharing a controversial story about the ‘Love Jihad’ on Instagram in 2023, but he later deleted the post and put out a statement saying that those two social media posts weren’t actually from him. Apparently someone hacked his account. He also wanted to make it clear that he respects everyone and the stories shared on his profile don’t really represent his true beliefs.
